Job Duties

1. Provide expert legal advice on Ukrainian law to Russian and Ukrainian speaking clients in the United States, focusing on cross-border private law matters such as contracts, family law, property disputes, inheritance, and commercial transactions involving Ukraine.
2. Advise on compliance with Ukrainian regulations for international clients, including asset transfers, business formations, and enforcement of Ukrainian judgments in U.S. or other jurisdictions, while collaborating with U.S.-licensed attorneys.
3. Review and analyze Ukrainian legal documents (e.g., powers of attorney, wills, agreements) for authenticity, accuracy, and applicability in cross-border scenarios.
4. Assist in due diligence for transactions between Ukraine/Russia and the U.S., identifying risks under Ukrainian private international law and recommending strategies for mitigation and lawyers.
5. Liaise with Ukrainian courts, notaries, and authorities on behalf of clients, coordinating with the firm's team to facilitate apostilles, legalizations, and remote representations.
6. Draft advisory opinions and memoranda on Ukrainian private law topics, ensuring cultural and linguistic nuances are addressed for Russian/Ukrainian-speaking clients.
7. Support litigation preparation by providing Ukrainian law expertise for cases with international elements, without representing clients in U.S. courts.

Requirements

• Experience — 2 years (24 months) in the job offered OR related occupation.
• Education — Master's in Law or foreign equivalent.
• Knowledge of Ukrainian civil, commercial, family, inheritance, and private international law.
• Knowledge of cross-border matters (apostille, legalization, service of process, enforcement of judgments).
• Legal research and drafting skills (opinions, memoranda, contracts).
• Ability to review and interpret Ukrainian legal documents (court decisions, notarial acts, POAs, wills, company records).
• Familiarity with: real estate contacts, gift agreements, powers of attorney, inheritance affairs including registration procedures, civil and contract law matters under Ukrainian law.
• Maintain good standing with the home country bar association.
